Düsseldorf meets Cologne…
Alright fellas, we’re back in our hometown Cologne to present you our next guest: MAIK LÖWEN. Although there’s always been struggle between the two westphalian cities Dusseldorf and Cologne, one day MAIK felt ready to switch positions and move to Cologne, where his musical career began. After releases on Trapez or Pokerflat, he founded his palmy House Label “Niveous Records”, which is a well-established platform for talented upcoming producers. Nuff said, time to get the podcast!
Some words…
Hi Maik, how are you?
Hi, I´m fine, thanks
Have you been on road this weekend?
Last friday. I played with Philipp Stöhr at the Barracuda Bar in Cologne. A small but hot and sweaty venue. Was a very funny night.
How does a typical day after party look like?
I like cooking and eating a nice meal and hanging out with friends… Or making some beats. But there is not really a typical “day after”.
Did you ever experience anything crazy at a gig?
A lot! This is one reason, amongst others, why I love the nightlife.
What are your musical influences?
In my early teenager time I listened mostly to Hip Hop music. Being 16 I guess, I found my way to electronic music. I also love Jazz and Funk and to dicover new tunes and styles.
What’s your all-time favourite track?
That’s hard to say. There is so much good music out there… For example “Luciano – Octogonal” or the Maurizio series.
Which equipment do you use for producing your music?
I´m using Ableton Live as my DAW on a PC. I also have some outboard equipment like the Virus A, the Novation Supanova, the Waldorf Pulse, a TB 303 and a blue Electribe MX.
What are your future projects or releases?
Due to my work and the label, there is not that much time to produce but there will be another release on “Niveous” this year, of course.
Thanks for the interview. Any last words?
Thanks a lot for the interview and the chance to present my podcast on thebasement![]()
