018 – DREI FARBEN HOUSE

Ick sach ma so, wa?
After some time of silence we’d like to give you again some input, so you’re not hanging out bored in front of your comp. Berlin based DREI FARBEN HOUSE is our next guest with an “extra long” mix. Already since 1993 he’s a big lover and collector of house music on wax and that’s why his style is vinyl and dublates only! Pretty forceful, huh? Just like his releases on Polytone, Brut! or even Scheinselbständig. But nuff said. Give it up to 3FH!
Some words…
Hi Drei Farben House, how are you?
I’m fine, thanks. After a busy day in the office I’m happy to enjoy the warm summer evening and this little interview.
Have you been on road this weekend?
Yes indeed, I’ve been to a little garden party of a club here in Berlin where Baaz has been playing a really fantastic House set. And in the evening we’ve been to another great club directly at the river Spree where Jan Krüger from Hello?Repeat has been playing records – also really, really cool. So it’s been a good Sunday filled with music.
How does a typical day after party look like?
After a gig or when I’ve just been clubbing with my friends, I sleep really a lot and do things which neither stress the mind nor the body. I also try to work against the unhealthy things of the night before with loads of green tea and healthy food – although I have only vague hopes that this really helps.
Did you ever experience anything crazy at a gig?
Ah, it’s actually mostly other people who experience crazy things. Those things rarely happen to me which is probably also because I am not really looking for mad or crazy things. When I go out I mainly want to listen to good music on a good soundsystem, dance and enjoy the company of nice, interesting or good-looking people. And, of course, to enjoy this slightly hyped-up, excited athmosphere.
What are your musical influences?
Well, my great, great love is Pop music in its various shades. Soul Pop, Indie/Guitar Pop, but also commercial synth Pop from the eighties are my massive passions. I think what really heavily influenced me were the British Charts of the eighties and nineties. I used to listen them manicly, fascinated – and don’t forget, the English charts were still really good back then. And that’s how I got to know everything: American Soul, cool, British guitar Pop, and, of course, the whole electronic Dance music thing. From Bomb The Bass and D-Mob via Steve Silk Hurley and Coldcut to Tricky Disco and LFO – basically it was the UK Charts who introduced me to House music.
What’s your all-time favourite track?
Oh, i can’t pick one single favourite track, but absolute highlights which will stand all tests of time are “New Day” by Round Two on Mainstreet, “Wet Wednesday” by Thee Madkatt Courtship and “Synkro” by Luomo.
Which equipment do you use for producing your music?
I work with Logic and some additional soft synths, a MacBook Pro and a little Keyboard.
What are your future projects or releases?
Yes, great news: at the end of August I’ll be launching my own little label called Tenderpark. It’s a vinyl only label, and release 001 will be two very nice tracks by me, but coming up are great House tracks from other artists as well. Also, artwork, photography, mastering, pressing – everything will be top quality. I’m really looking forward to that.
Thanks for the interview. Any last words?
Well, of course I’d be delighted if you paid some attention to my Tenderpark record. Apart from that: thanks to you guys for this cool interview and compliments for your dedication to good House music – keep it up!
